The Health Benefits of Garlic

The benefits of garlic have been known by many as the herbal wonder drug. It has a reputation for many benefits, from the common cold to typhoid fever. Studies have shown that garlic has a powerful antioxidant effect and has been widely used in herbal medicine to protect the body against the damaging effects of free radicals.

Garlic is effective when eaten raw and a daily intake of a medium to two teeth seems to be sufficient to avoid disease for most people. The body does not seem to create resistance to garlic, so its health benefits continuity over time. Raw garlic is used by some to treat acne symptoms and there is no evidence that it can help lower cholesterol levels. It is even effective as a natural mosquito repellent.

The strong taste of garlic clove indicates that it has more sulfur content and therefore more medicinal value for its benefits. Some people feel that organic garlic tends to have a higher sulfur level and therefore greater health benefit. Others prefer to take odorless garlic capsules or capsules.

The two main medical ingredients that produce health benefits of garlic are allicin and diallyl sulphides. Garlic also contains vitamins B and C and is rich in calcium, sulfur, zinc, copper, potassium and phosphoric acid. Garlic has a wonderful health supplement, but the garlic cure is not a substitute for the fundamentals of proper nutrition and proper exercise. Garlic should be used as part of a healthy lifestyle, not as an alternative to it. You should always consult your doctor about a medical condition.
